Obituary

Wanda Mae Wheat Minor, was born August 19, 1930, and joined husband Bill and three sons (Tom, Chuck and Ron) in the heavenly realm on July 10, 2025. She passed peacefully in her sleep. Wandas parents (Ina and Chick Wheat) owned part of Wheat Brothers Dairy in Parsons, KS. We loved to hear stories about how her dad delivered the milk. She was an only child, but has always been very close to her cousins on both sides of the family. She went to kindergarten and high school in Parsons, and attended the one-room Springhill School for first through eighth grades. She received an associates degree from Parsons Junior College in her later years. Wanda and Bill Minor were united in marriage on February 10, 1950. He had always told her he would live to be 100, but didnt make it that long. They were always very close. In her work life, Wanda was a telephone operator, and later worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons. She founded Minors Fabrics, and then added the Hobby Shop in Parsons where she sold fabrics, crafts, and had lots of art classes. In later years she taught craft classes for various nursing homes in the area. She was a very talented painter and seamstress. She always considered Kansas her home. Most of her life was spent around the Parsons/Oswego area, with a few years in Grandview, MO and Overland Park, KS. In her later years she moved to Salt Lake City, UT with daughters Marcia and Karen. Wanda loved to travel with Bill, but was always happy to be home. She continually said she preferred "Flat Kansas" but did finally come to love the Utah mountains! Wanda was preceded in death by husband Bill, and three sons - Tom, Chuck, and Ron. Wanda will be deeply missed by her daughters Marcia Thurmond and Karen Garza; honorary daughters, Peggy Minor, Tammy Fields, Becky Schultz, and Twila Wagner; grandchildren - Kerrie (Matt) Doane, Kristina Knobeloch, Kim (Darrin) Nelson, Cindy (Bill) Mickey, Steven (Kim) Minor, Karleigh (John) Vanderford, Kenneth (Jenae) Garza, Marcia (Tyler) Furner, Chad (Ronda) Teal, April (Bo) Farr, Charlie (Julie) Minor, Candi (Zach) Adams, Amanda Wright, BJ (Lana) Minor; 35 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins and friends. Everyone loved her! There will be no funeral at this time. We will have a family get-together at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oswego Public Library in her name.
