In Loving Memory of Ronald Dan Ransom

May 28, 1952 – November 3, 2025

Our beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ronald "Ron" Dan Ransom, passed away peacefully and returned home to Jesus on Monday, November 3rd, 2025.

Ron was born on May 28th, 1952, to Carolyn Winona Nowling and Daniel Ransom. He grew up and attended school in Ogden, Utah. where his strong work ethic and love for the outdoors began to take shape.

Ron spent most of his life as a truck driver, a career he truly loved. He took great pride in his work and earned a reputation for always getting the job done safely and correctly. In his younger years, Ron was also a bull rider, earning two buckles as All Around Cowboy. Though a back injury eventually forced him to give up the sport he loved, his cowboy spirit never left him.

He also served as a firefighter, dedicating himself to helping others. When not working, Ron loved spending time outdoors — especially hiking in the mountains and fishing in mountain streams, then cooking up his catch for dinner.

Ron cherished time spent fishing with his son Stan, listening to music, reading his Bible, attending church, and being with family. He especially loved the long phone calls from his niece, Ashley Lybarger, which always brightened his day. Family dinners were a favorite, and he could never resist his niece Shelly's famous "Strawberry Stuff," often eating nearly the whole bowl himself.

Ron's devotion to his family was unwavering. He was caring, generous, and selfless — the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back even when he needed it himself. His passing leaves a deep hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

In 1978, Ron married Myrtle Roods, and together they raised a son, Stan Davis. Ron and Myrtle shared 24 years of marriage and, though they later divorced, remained close friends until Myrtle's passing in 2023. He never loved another.

Ron is survived by his brother Brian (Jenny) Lybarger, sister Sue (Steve) Hampton, stepson Stan Davis, grandson Anthony Davis, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Lybarger, father, Dan Ransom, stepfather, Edward Lybarger, sister, Linda Ransom Allen, ex-wife, Myrtle Roods, brothers-in-law George and John Roods, and many other beloved family members and friends.

Though Ron has gone home to Jesus, his warmth, humor, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in late November, with details to be announced. Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring and remembering Ron's remarkable life, a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and kindness.
