Obituary

Philip Balcer, 85, of Lindon, Utah, transitioned peacefully to heaven on January 4, 2025. Born on February 24, 1939, in Buffalo, New York, Philip lived a life of love, laughter, and dedication. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Fricano Balcer, who was the center of his world. Philips final words to Angela were a testament to his enduring love: I love you, my darling wife, and I want you to be happy and be loving. He is also survived by his cherished children, Roxanne (Kevin) Call and Mark (Emily) Balcer; his grandchildren, Ryan (Stacy) Jensen, Aaron (Jennifer) Jensen, Jessica (Zach) Rogerson, Kyle (Joyce) Balcer, McKay Balcer, Kassidi Balcer, Ethan Call, Adam Call, Mistie Roundtree, and Ashley Roundtree; and seven great-grandchildren who brought him joy. Philip passed away from pancreatic cancer but was blessed with a quick and pain-free departure. A proud Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Independence CV-62. Philip had a sharp wit and was a self-proclaimed food critic, offering his honest opinions on everything from fine dining to hospital meals. A devoted family man, Philip enjoyed smoking cigars with his grandchildren, Kyle, McKay, Adam, and Ethan, and shared his passion for gaming, from Atari to chess, with the family. He earned his associate degree from Erie Community College while working full-time and raising a family, showcasing his commitment to growth and resilience. Philips career spanned decades in electronic sales management, where he thrived as a leader and was never too proud to take on any role needed. His Catholic faith early on was central to his life, and he served the church faithfully, particularly enjoying his work on the Lawn Fetes. Philip wished that everyone were Democrats, lamenting his "failure" in raising two Republicansa topic best avoided at family gatherings! A blessing of the ashes will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Peters Catholic Church, 634 Caveman Blvd, American Fork, Utah, at 9:00 AM. Philips wit, presence, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Philip.
