IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Byron
Krom
August 29, 1944 – January 19, 2026
Kenneth Byron Krom, 81, of Provo, Utah, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born on August 29, 1944, in Renton, Washington, to Warren Stanley Krom and Dorothy Lillian Day. He grew up in Renton with his mother and stepfather, Charles O'Neil, whose home and guidance shaped much of his early life.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandy Krom. He is survived by his twin brother, Richard Harvey Krom, and his older brother, Stanley Warren Krom, both of Washington, as well as his son, Kenneth Troy Krom.
Ken lived a life defined by hard work, service, and a deep love for fixing anything that needed a steady hand. He found joy in fishing, working on cars, and tackling projects that others might have given up on. His curiosity and mechanical skill carried him through a wide range of occupations over the years, including truck driving, firefighting, serving as a Boeing mechanic, greeting customers at Walmart, working as a cashier at Dollar Tree, and many other roles that reflected his willingness to help wherever he was needed.
He proudly served in the United States Army in the tank division and was deployed to Munich, Germany during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service continued as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he helped construct church buildings in California—work that left a lasting mark on the communities he served.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 1st at 7:00 p.m. MST at the LDS church building located at 1560 S 1100 W. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate Ken's life and legacy.
