Elaine M
Blasgen
March 25, 1945 – April 22, 2026
Elaine M. Blasgen , age 81, of Santaquin, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2026.
Elaine was born on March 25, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, and was adopted at birth by the late Anna and Victor Pomarzynski. Later in life, she had the opportunity to connect with her biological mother and three siblings before their passing. While she was always deeply grateful for and devoted to her adoptive family, she sought out her biological family to better understand her medical history. Having been raised as an only child, she was surprised and delighted to discover she had three brothers who welcomed her warmly into their lives. They had not known of her existence until she reached out to the oldest brother, who shared that he had “always wanted a sister.” In a touching coincidence, two of her brothers shared the same names as her husband and son.
Elaine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother—and, as she happily discovered later in life, a cherished sister. Her life was defined by her deep love for her family—especially her grandchildren. She was not only an incredible mother but also a trusted friend, always ready to listen, offer thoughtful advice, and provide steady support. She was a wonderful example of strength, perseverance, and dedication to everyone around her.
Elaine attended Josephinum Academy of the Sacred Heart, where she developed a lifelong love of reading and learning. Raised primarily by her mother after the loss of her father at a young age, she learned independence, resilience, and the value of hard work early in life. Her relationship with her mother was an important and formative part of her life, helping shape her strong sense of determination and care for others. She also shared a meaningful connection with her beloved busha (grandmother).
As a young adult, Elaine met Thomas Blasgen while they were both members of the Jack and Jill Social Club. Friends of theirs quickly recognized what a perfect match they were, and before long, they did too. They were married on June 1, 1968, and went on to build a life together and raise their two children, Paul and Beth.
Elaine began her career at Poplar Creek Public Library, where she served as a purchasing agent. Though she worked behind the scenes, she played a vital role in supporting staff and coordinating with vendors and all aspects of library purchasing. She was deeply valued for her strong work ethic, reliability, and the genuine friendships she built along the way. Elaine became so valuable with her work ethic and friendship that, upon her retirement, she was told it would take at least three people to replace the breadth of work she had handled with such dedication and care.
She found great joy in crocheting, creating countless handmade gifts for family and friends, including baby afghans and sweaters for a few of her grandchildren.
Becoming a grandmother was one of the greatest joys of Elaine’s life. She built deep, lasting relationships with each of her three grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She loved baking holiday cookies together each year, sharing stories, and creating traditions that will live on for generations.
Elaine was, without question, one of Barry Manilow’s biggest fans. She traveled across the country with close friends to attend his concerts, forming lasting friendships along the way. She had the opportunity to meet him several times and even got to know members of his band and crew, experiences that brought her immense joy and became some of her favorite stories to share.
She also enjoyed a good mystery novel, movies and television mysteries, and reminiscing about the many stories of her life. Her memories of her younger years in Chicago, in particular, she frequently recollected with great fondness. Her husband often competed in fast draw competitions, and she loved road-tripping around the country with both her children and her grandchildren to see different places and experience new things.
Those who knew Elaine will remember her for her unwavering love, her warm presence, and the way she made people feel heard, valued, and cared for. Her kindness and strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Victor Pomarzynski; her biological parents; her brothers Paul, Tom, and Tim Dornaus; her son-in-law, Wesley Jensen; her brother-in-law, Larry Blasgen; and many dear family members and friends.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, Thomas Blasgen; her son, Paul Blasgen; her daughter, Beth Jensen; her granddaughters, Kyndra (Sam) Morris and Kayla (Dallin) Broome; her grandson, Ian (Megan) Jensen; and her seven great-grandchildren: Asher, O’rias, Jack, Ezra, Wilder, Sadie, and Elsie.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or that you honor her memory by spending time with loved ones.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
