September 3, 1962-June 19, 2025Carrie Lynn DeHaas Wright, a devoted mother, loving grandmother, cherished sister, and dear friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, warmth, and dedication to her family.
Carrie was born at Murray Hospital in Utah to Linda Myrtle Bunnell and Joseph DeHaas. She grew up in American Fork, where her compassionate spirit, playful nature, and deep love for animals were evident from a young age.
After high school, Carrie married Clay Hansen, and together they welcomed two sons: Casey Hansen and Chris Hansen. Although their marriage ended, Carrie later found love again with Dane Austin. Together, Carrie and Dane had two more sons, DJ Austin and Chanc Austin, completing her beautiful family of four boys. Through her marriage to Dane, Carrie also gained three beloved stepchildrenHolly Austin Long, Cole Austin, and Lucas Austinwhom she loved deeply and treated as her own.
After she and Dane eventually parted ways, Carrie later married Marty Wright. With that union, she welcomed another stepson, Justin Wright, into her heart and family. Though they eventually divorced, Carrie remained grateful for the bond and memories they shared.
Carrie was fiercely dedicated to her children and her grandson, Kohen, who was the pride and joy of her life. She was "Mom" and "Grandma" in every way that matteredloving, encouraging, and always present. Her family was her world.
Carrie spent many years running a daycare, where she became known to countless children as "Miss Carrie." The kids adored her, and she poured her heart into making each child feel loved and safe. She also worked at the local Laundromat and Gas Station, where she formed lasting relationships with customers. Carrie took great pride in her work and loved seeing familiar faces each day, always offering a warm smile and kind conversation.
Known for her kind-hearted nature and vibrant spirit, Carrie was the life of every gathering. She had a passion for cooking and loved taking care of her beautiful yard. Her love for animals was a lifelong constantespecially for her grand-dogs, Floyd and Stevie. There was never a time in her life when she wasnt caring for a beloved pet or taking in a stray who needed a home.
Carrie is survived by her four sons: Casey Hansen, Chris Hansen (Lauren Hansen), DJ Austin, and Chanc Austin; her cherished grandson, Kohen Hansen; her stepchildren: Holly Austin Long (Jesse Long), Cole Austin, Lucas Austin, and Justin Wright; her brothers, Rick and Chad DeHaas, and her dad Joseph DeHass. She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Linda Myrtle Bunnell, and all of her pets she loved so much over the years.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Carries two youngest sons, DJ and Chanc, for their tireless love and care for the last few years, and during her final days. Their devotion brought her comfort and peace, and the family is forever grateful for their strength and selflessness.
Carrie Lynn DeHaas will be remembered as a loving mother, a doting grandmother, a caring friend, and a true light in the lives of so many. She will be missed dearly, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Carries honor on Sunday September 7th at the Pleasant Grove Eagles from 2-5pm, 220 N 600 W Pleasant Grove, UT.
