Obituary

Our mother, Becky LeeAnn Barnes, passed away suddenly on the evening of May 14, 2026. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clyde and Violet Walton and grew up in a full house with five sisters and three brothers in Taylorsville.

She went on to have nine children, as her mother did, and to fall in love many times -but never quite so deeply as with Billy Barnes, her final husband. Her phone is filled with thousands of photos of heart-shaped clouds she captured, believing each one was sent to her by Billy from the heavens. Though our mom faced struggles that prevented her from raising us in the traditional way, she loved us fiercely and did her best to place us where she believed we would be safest.

She was wildly creative and intensely focused on the smallest details of her many projects. She loved to design, write, and draw. She was a clever songwriter, sharing her songs only with those closest to her while secretly hoping a talented star would someday find them and sing them to the world. She was an affectionate, talented, flawed. gentle, wounded, and beautiful woman who left quite an impression on this world, and a gang of wonderful kids behind.

She is survived by her siblings, Debi, Cindy, Tracie, Jeff, Paul, Matt, and Lori, and by her children, Stephanie, Susan, Leishawn, TJ., Cari, Andy (Dallas), Cristopher, Jupiter and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless loved ones. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Violet and Clyde Walton, her husband, Billy, her sister, Cheri, her daughter, Amanda (Dusty), and her grandson, Gage.
